Pregnancy HemorrhoidsThe common belief is that hemorrhoids happen only as a reaction bad eating habits, lifestyle etc. That is not true. Hemorrhoids are also a common side-effect of pregnancy. Usually during the third trimester of pregnancy, hemorrhoids starts troubling the pregnant woman. In late pregnancy, the baby’s head descends and puts pressure on the anal canal. This in itself put pressure on this area, and also causes constipation. Even before labor, you may find that you have some difficulty in moving your bowels due to the growing fetus. Labor involves a lot of straining and pushing using the muscles of the pelvic floor. This puts even more pressure on the blood vessels within the anus, with internal hemorrhoids being a very common result. As if all that stretching and tearing in the vaginal/perianal area wasn’t enough to cope with! The Good news is that Hemorrhoids can be avoided during pregnancy.
